Learn
The Alpaca Guide is open to everyone. Members get the people behind it: regional field days, workshops, and other owners who have already solved the problem you have today.
Connect
Three regional committees run local events all year. Your listing in the member directory puts you on the national map for people looking to buy or visit.
Register
Register a herd prefix and your alpacas on the IAR (NZ) registry — the pedigree record buyers and judges rely on — and use tools like the mating predictor.
Participate
Exhibit at A&P shows and the National Show, take part in National Alpaca Day, vote at the AGM and help shape the industry.

Two kinds of membership. Full membership is right for anyone breeding or registering animals; Lifestyle suits owners who keep alpacas without breeding.

$200 / year (NZ)

- Register a stud name on the IAR (NZ) Alpaca Registry
- Register eligible alpaca once a stud name is registered
- Vote at the AGM and SGM, or by postal vote
- Hold office in the Association (individual and partner members)

Lifestyle membership
$50 / year (NZ)
- All correspondence, information and updates
- Regular newsletters
- Register a stud name on the IAR (NZ) Alpaca Registry
- Register eligible alpaca once a stud name is registered
- Exhibit at shows
- Not eligible to vote or stand for election
- Cannot register cria or progeny, or certify sires

How to apply

Complete Form A
The new membership application. Tell us which membership you want and how you’d like to appear in the directory.

Choose a herd prefix
If you plan to register animals, apply for a herd prefix at the same time — it becomes part of every alpaca’s registered name.

Pay your subscription
Direct credit to the AANZ account quoting your surname. Your membership must be paid before registry transactions can be processed.

Log in
Once processed you’ll receive member login details, access to the resource library and your directory listing.
